Duality tells the story of a young boy with two names, Manchester and Elias, born into a utopian world where Carl Jung and Eckhart Tolle’s concept of ‘The Ego’ and ‘The Conscious Self’ are written into the fabric of everyday society.

This world is shaped by its ulterior philosophy, defined by solo expeditions into nature, psychedelic ceremonies, conscious dying centres and a more holistic kind of relationship. He exists for the first part of his life within these comfortable parameters, navigating education, love and the question of who he wants to become.

That is, until one day he takes part in an experiment that introduces him to the world we know as our own. Seen through Manchester’s eyes, the voids within our experiences are exposed, and our philosophical pitfalls uncovered. Ultimately, he is left asking how one can maintain the conscious self in a culture such as our own?

Science, Spirituality and the Time Travelling Storyteller is a novel exploring the nature of self as narrative. Told through the lens of a time travelling philosopher who journeys back in time to save her younger self. Through metaphysical prose the story explores questions of queerness, spirituality, analytical psychology, the function of insanity and the artistic nature of philosophies and spiritualities.
